MGB Fine Custom Homes was recently selected to be in the book, LEEDing the Way: Domestic Architecture for the Future, a unique and engaging study of LEED houses today. Respectful of nature and its resources, the 28 architects and builders describe the directions they take to create a comfortable home for their clients. Their objective is to reduce energy consumption and to harmonize the home with its surroundings. It includes 21 Platinum houses, 8 Gold and Silver Certified, 6 Passive Energy, 4 organic, and 14 Green houses.
Two of MGB’s projects were profiled in the book. Point Crisp House, a 4,500 Sq. Ft. home surrounded by water on Siesta Key (achieving LEED Gold certification); and the Sarasota Island House, a family vacation home built on a water access only Island, Jewfish Key, at the North End of Longboat Key (achieving a Platinum Rating by the Florida Green Building Coalition).

“Gorgeous homes across the US, LEEDing The Way is a starting point for anyone interested in making the world and their home a better place, says Jennifer Mehditash, California Home and Design. “Resource and energy efficient residences are designed to be healthy, comfortable, easy to live in, and construction of a sustainable home includes using less energy, fewer natural resources, and fewer toxic chemicals. Rooney breaks the negative association between these products and their design, or lack thereof. ”
It’s a “tome of knowledge”, says Janis Hill, of Janis’s Journal – Book Review, Home and Garden. “Some may see this as just another “coffee table” book but it’s not. It really is wonderful book for anyone wanting to seek ideas on how to build a better, more economical and environmentally friendly home.”
