The owners of this Modern Ranch home engaged MGB Fine Custom Homes to help them create their dream home with room for visiting guests, a formal home office and a music room that also functions as an additional bedroom for overflow. Their goal of a “U” shaped floor plan presented a design challenge in that the lot is pie-shaped and had deep setbacks with two 20’ front yard setbacks, one on a road, the other bordering a vacated road turned public walking space. Located west of trail in the sought-after Southside Village neighborhood near Downtown Sarasota offered neighborhood shopping at Morton’s Market, and about a dozen popular restaurants and bars only steps from their home. Given the bustling location of this home, we were able to carve out and craft a home that lives like a very private oasis with the help of a young and talented modern local architect, Leonardo Lunardi.
The front of the home features #1 mahogany faced garage door and mahogany wrapped solid concrete pop-out architecture, and a solid concrete privacy wall. The interior of the home shows like a jewel box of high fashion and design, with wonderful details like accordion folding doors opening the living and dining space to an outdoor lap pool and lounge area bordered by a custom aluminum powder-coated louvered privacy fence and lush tropical landscaping. With 38 corners, the home is a fortress against the element, constructed for energy efficiency and interior health with low toxin materials and finishes, high efficiency heat pump conditioning with modern even-flow linear diffusers, smooth “Level 5” wall finishes, flush base moldings, smooth zero molding flush 1 ¾ inch solid doors, Energy-Star Hurricane Impact Windows and exterior doors, and rectified porcelain non-slip tiles in and out. The master suite offers his and her baths, custom European steam shower system, soaking tub and bedroom with sliders opening to the pool and hot tub. Her office also opens to the pool area and has a rear entry door for client meetings.
We believe this home represents a terrific example of modern living and functional all-season indoor-outdoor entertaining that blends into the eclectic West of Trail Sarasota neighborhood as easily as it would blend into the hills of Hollywood California.
