Steve Ellis
Steve is a visionary leader – managing the firm’s new client engagement activities, design, quality and client satisfaction, and the firm’s community outreach program.
Steve grew up in the construction industry and has always had a passion for fine architecture, design, and physical space that can enhance life’s experiences.
His father built the largest publicly traded development and construction business of the 1970’s — North American Development in Boston Mass. The company used to take run-down old structures and rebuild them into residential buildings, artist-lofts and low-income housing. Steve’s first summer jobs were in construction and his older brother is a life-long custom home builder in Vermont.
“I have been in and around the business for a long time and when I moved to Sarasota I started buying properties, hiring and firing many different Sarasota builders until in 2006, I decided I could really improve the home building experience for other people and build a business doing what I am passionate about.”
Despite starting the business at the beginning of a massive downturn in the construction industry, Ellis and Castilow recruited a winning team to lead the company to record growth landing it on the Inc. Magazine’s list of fastest growing companies for two consecutive years. MGB was also honored with an induction into Sarasota’s Economic Development Corp.’s Hall of Fame; Small Business of the Year by the Sarasota Manatee Chamber of Commerce; and being named one of Florida’s top 50 Companies to Watch.
Since the company’s inception, Steve has organized a portion of the company’s resources toward community outreach in areas such as child welfare and development; education; humane treatment of animals; and environmental conservation.
In addition, Steve regularly speaks to public and professional audiences about new trends in construction and his insights on providing value and accountability to clients throughout their home building experience.
